The cover of the December 8 edition of the Italian Tribune featured Nazario “Larry” Paragano, Sr., and his new book, Life’s Dreams and Realities: The Life Stories of Nazario “Larry” Paragano, Sr., published by Woodpecker Press in 2011. An two-page spread in that issue of the newspaper also presented excerpts and photos from the book.

This book is the first of a multivolume autobiography by the author, a long-time resident of New Jersey and well-respected businessman. For more than fifty years, Paragano has enjoyed an ambitious and diverse career in numerous business ventures, most notably, all phases of the real estate and building/construction industry.

Volume 1 takes us through his first eighteen years. The author shares his memories of early life in the tiny Italian village of Camella, emigrating from Italy to America with his family, their new life in the U.S.A., and some of the joys, accomplishments, and antics of his childhood and teen years while growing up in New Jersey.

For anyone with an Italian background or who has experienced life with Italian-born relatives, Paragano’s book will bring back fond memories of traditions, foods, expressions, and activities that may have been forgotten. It also provides a peak into the process and pitfalls so many people have had to endure to leave their country of origin for hope of a better life in America.
