Donna R. Thompson, owner and publishing director at Woodpecker Press, LLC, Bayville, NJ, was one of several women business owners honored on Tuesday, October 21, 2014, by the Metro East Region of the New Jersey Association of Women Business Owners. She received the 2014 NJAWBO Trailblazer Award, which was presented to her by NJAWBO Metro East president, Laurel Bernstein.
The Trailblazer Award recognizes Thompson for redefining her role and responsibility of past elected positions, which has left a legacy for the region. She has been a member of NJAWBO since joining the Essex Chapter on November 18, 2005, and has served on the board from December 2005 through June 2011 in various positions, including VP of Marketing (2005–2008), VP of Member Services (2008–2010), and Award Chair (2010–2011).
“Donna has held so many roles over her long tenure and has become a senior advisor to the Board and the Region. Women can look up to her leadership with admiration,” states Laurel Bernstein, President of Metro East NJAWBO and President of Laurel Bernstein and Associates of Montclair. “She provides a constant and sustaining visibility in the Essex County community that shows what an aspiring woman can do.”
